so i guess the hip word to use for this post is "dropped." yeah, these just dropped. ha ha. I rode these a few weeks back up at Hood. To be honest, at first i couldn't handle how snug they felt. I mean I'm only a size 8 and its pretty rare to find a boot that can be too snug. but after kicking that heel back into the pocket, and NOT lacing them up so damn tight, these things felt like a slipper. now i just have to decide on which ones I like better, the ZOOM DK or the Kaiju. No joke, these are some comfy ass boots. Speaking of products with Danny Kass' name on em, check these puppies out. Damn, for some reason I'm craving a Crown on the Rocks. And I'm not a huge fan of whiskey. shameless product plug ? nah, I'm genuinely stoked on the aesthetics of these. Purple, black and Gold. Its just that these colors remind me of that scene in Purple Rain where The Kid tells Appolonia she needs to purify herself in Lake Minnetonka as her initiation into the band. Yeah, you know the scene.....

at what point do you STOP putting money into a car thats not even 10 years old but nearing the 200,000 mile mark, and cough up the payment for something new(er) ? Now this car has done an amazing job at what it was purchased for. Trips to Tahoe and Mammoth were the initial destinations. When I started being a sales rep it was what got me all around the territory to meet and establish accounts, take trips to San Diego for trade shows etc etc etc. Then after getting married and starting a family, it naturally turned into the family wagon. Trips to the Central and Northern Coasts of California, Southern California to see family, a trip out to Colorado TWICE, all over the place in fact. And as cars rack up the miles on the highways and in the city, shit goes wrong, naturally. Drive line, wheel bearings, cv joints, clutch, head gaskets, water pumps, betls, brakes, the list goes on and on.... anyway, long story short, it was in the shop again twice in about 6 weeks. I have all the work orders in a file, but I am really afraid to add up the dollar amount from over the years. bottom line is that we can't live without her, well we could, but it would be a pain in the ass gettin around with 2 kids and all. she's been good to us, so we'll keep her around for a while longer. but her time is getting limited. much like my cat Blitz. but thats another story.

this is my nephew jacob. this weekend he got to try out the new "kids" board from CAPiTA. Immediately on his first run, he headed straight to the park to hit some jumps. We spent the better part of the morning lapping the mountain top to bottom, left to right searching for some left over powder. We then decided to hike Hemlock Ridge on the backside of Mammoth before it was time for a hot dog. After teaching him how to do a proper heel side slash, we spotted a nice tree jump that he didn't think twice about hitting. Unfortunately it resulted with a knee to the face bloody nose. But when it was all said and done, he muttered the quote the day, "it sure was worth it, did you see how much air I got?"

Yes, jacob, it was worth it, and YES, I saw how much air you got. I am so stoked on seeing another young gun on his way to a lifetime of happiness brought on by plank of wood sandwiched between fiberglass, steel, and plastic.

This past week was full of amazing days up on the mountains here in Tahoe. Feet upon feet upon feet of snow turned my days from the usual 8-6 work day to a 5:30am wake up to go shred to work til 11pm or so work day. Well, its time for a bit of a break from the hot laps to and from Tahoe. Tomorrow I am off to SIA in Denver, CO. I am really looking forward to the new atmosphere this year. Bon Voyage to the Las Vegas Mandalay Bay, Luxor, Hard Rock bermuda triangle. Don't get me wrong, I had fun in Vegas and there are parts I'm for sure going to miss. But every time I came home from the trade show, I felt like the week spent in Vegas was just a dream. This SIA is actually going to seem like a mini vaca since for the first time, this trade show experience will be all new. Plus there is going to be an on snow demo afterwards as well. You mean mixing in some snowboarding with business ? Yes, sign me up, I will take 2 please. Then its back home for one day and then I will be off to Mt Baker for the Legendary Banked Slalom. Stay tuned for a post from up there. After the short time in Washnigton, I will be headed to Tahoe to set up the CAPiTA COAL and UNION tents for our Local Northern California/Nevada on snow demo at Alpine Meadows for 2 days. THEN, from there I will be in Mammoth for the Southern California/Nevada on snow demo for 2 days. When its all said and done, in less than 3 weeks, I will have ridden 6 different mountains. Sierra at Tahoe, Sugar Bowl, Winter Park, Mt Baker, Alpine Meadows and Mammoth Mountain. I may just have to swing over to June Mountain to throw in the bonus lucky 7 on the way home.... "I don't know... I don't know if I'll have enough time" Anyway, the point of all this ramble is just that I feel so fortunate to be able to see and do so much all while doing my job. There are days (most days) that there just doesn't seem like there are enough available hours to get my shit done, but at the end of the day it feels good knowing that I'm doing what I love. Snowboarding.

I love this website, its called Weather Geek and they take in all the areas weather news and updates and combine the info so it makes a little bit more sense. Plus when I get up at 5:30 am to read the reports, they usually have already posted something about the past evening, current morning, and a little heads up for the day.

So this series of storms were rumored to bring in about 10 feet of snow, but seems that its going to be closer to 5 feet for the week. Not complaining at, I will take it. The downside is the crazy wind. This is making it hard for chairs that go to the higher elevations from running due to bad visibility and the strong gusts shut down the lines. So what does this mean ? it means that everyone flocks to one side of the mountain, the OPEN side. and what does that mean ? it means klusterfuQ. Im sitting today out because the Lincoln chair will AGAIN be closed today since today is the bigger part of the storm with the biggest rewards. tomorrow will be the day to go ride. yesterday the blasting on lincoln went on for a good part of the morning and the wind and low clouds hadnt let up all day. so if all goes well with this dump forcast (up to 2 feet) and the wind dies down, anyone who knows me, knows that tomorrow I will be rolling out of bed at around 10am to start twittering my homies so we can all meet up and hit the park bright and early around noon to hammer out this rail thats been buried since saturday. who's comin with me ? northstar ? boreal ? HAHA PHYCHE ! Oh and just because, check out this photo of dustin craven !

How I love thee so, let me count the ways… First I love your camber and how much of it you have. I love that you don’t fail me at high speeds. I love that you grip the snow and let me ride effortlessly; it has been too long since I have felt true confidence in a board. I love that you have just the right amount of side cut to let me make quick turns through the trees. I did notice that you have a slight taper in the tail, we will ride more powder soon, I promise and we will use that taper to our advantage! I love your beautifully done artwork on the top sheet and base, now usually I am not one for graphics, but you look GOOD! I love that you are as excited to go ride as I am and that you never lack motivation. Your narrow waist does not alarm me and lead me to believe that you have an eating disorder, it just tells me that you are built for me to shred with my small feet. I love that about you.
My sweet Capita Midnight I must make a confession, you are not my only board as I cannot be a one-board woman! Please do not take this the wrong way, but I need a quiver and trust me you are close to being my quiver killer.
